Oktava MK012 Mic wooshing sound --normal?

An oktava needs to have good shock and wind protection. An Invision shockmount and baby ball gag would probably be a good place to start.

+ to Jordan - what youre doing here is finding out why the Oktava has pitfalls. Add the shockmount and BBG and youll be good to go and when you do youll see a world of difference.

It doesn't quite sound like this but... The Oktava's need a solid phantom supply. On some mic pre's you can get this low sound sort of like what you have but it's usually a shorter stronger pattern that is sometimes called "motor boating". This happens with other mics also. The solution in that case is to make sure you have a full 48V phantom and or toss a low cut on. The low cut breaks the feedback loop. But that is more of a heads up since the motor boating sounds different, usually.

Most mics don't have the low end that the Oktava does so you generally will want to toss a low cut on it (and use good wind protection).
