Oktava Mic

MK012-01 comes with cardioid capsule only, MK012 is a full set (omni, cardioid, hypercardioid). HTH.

Not much use for video work with camera. Cardioid could be used in studio for narration, omni for handheld reporter mic if it were not too short and susceptible to handling noise.

The matched set with two mic bodies and two sets of omni, cardioid and hypercardioid is a good value though if you are thinking about any music recording etc.

Omnis are the mics used for classical recording because only they have flat response down below 20 Hz.

I use the hyper 80% and cardioid 20%... omni maybe .01% at the most*.

The cardioid is a decent cap to have at some point. It works a lot like the hyper, but you'll notice more of the room characteristics come into play (not necessarily a good thing, but if the room is good then it's acceptable) and this allows you to boom 3 or more people. If you're booming close then the cardioid will split the distances better then the hyper... (if you are covering a larger or more spread out group). Anytime I can use the hyper I do... I'm just saying that there are times where the trade-off in "intimate sound" is worth the advantage of a wider pickup.

Just so there's no confusion, I still consider the hyper to be the ultimate do-it-all tool in my soundkit... I'm just saying that later on you may enjoy the option of a wider pickup for certain circumstances.
