MattinSTL, I just got my g2 wireless combo unit and used it with a ME66. It was indoors and a loud sound system. My sound was very over modulated/distorted. Not sure if it is a setting or my battery in the 66 was going down. Any ideas. This is my first time using it. Glad we had two cameras.
You'll have to turn the transmitter WAY down with the 66... I'm sorry to say that I never got the results I wanted when I had an me66... It was GREAT with a Beachtek and my TRV900... but once I got the DVX I just couldn't get what I wanted. (Overdriving the inputs, distortion, and a lot of trouble getting the levels stabilized... it always seemed like sound went from not loud enough to too loud...)
So I'm a bad guy to ask about problems with the me66. The best I can tell you is to start with levels LOW and then work them up from there. Also you don't need the phantom on and make sure that your internal setting is at -50db.
Thanks for the info. Last night I checked the transmitter settings and found the transmitter came set at 12 db. I did some testing recording loud music and found -30 worked very well. Like every thing you must know your equipment. I am learning alot quickly and this web site and everyone's talent is a blessing. Thank you everyone.
Oktava mc012 (also known as mk012) with Hyper Cardioid cap. www.sound-room.com
The Oktava and the 4073a have a similar sound (considering the Oktava is a hyper and the 4073a is a gun that's quite a compliment to the 4073a) and they mix well together. Sure there's a little difference... such as the 4073a is a little more crisp in the mids and the Oktava is a little more full in the bottom, but the tone of both is close enough that I don't think too many people could tell them apart unless you said, "these are two different mics".
A lot of mics have come and gone in my kit... and the Oktavas are just too versatile (and good sounding) for the price. The ONLY reason I parted with my 4073a was for a 416... and I'm probably going to get another 4073a this year anyway... unless I get another 416... The cash-fairy will decide.
