oktava 012 or the sennheiser mkh416

I am going to be shooting a low, low budget film with the hvx. I need a microphone to pick up dialogue for a couple key outdoor scenes. However, most of the dialogue will be captured indoors, in a house. I would like to purchase just one mike and I would like it to have a warm natural tone. I need a versatile mike. Can the mkh 416 do a decent job indoors? Can the oktava 012 handle the outdoors? What is the better of the two given the situation? :dankk2:

Octava

Octava

Well first off I'm having an issue making the Octava MC012 work with the Sony Mini Disc MZ-RH10. If the solutions gets solved soon then check out the post titled "Sony Mini Disc & Octava MC012 Problems." Where I will be posting the results when using the Octava in several different locations.

Welcome to The World of Much Better Sound!

Do you have your phantom power day pass?

No?

Oh man you better go get one because otherwise you can't use any of the mics in this place.

Okay, Ash, first off, you need to read the two posts that are stickied at the top of this forum. They are lengthy discussions about microphones and their capabilities (they talk about specific mics). Your question is answered in those posts.
