Okay, wow... I really blew it this time.

So I received my new tripod today, and I've been playing around with it. Now, I don't know tripod terminology, so I hear I go.. making an ass out of myself. I was loosening a knob on the head, and before I knew it, what seemed like a million little parts came flying to the ground along with the knob itself. Now, I've looked all over my room, taking everything out to make sure I'm not missing a single spot, and I've only found three parts. Two little metal pieces, and what looks like a bearing. The bearing rolled under my couch into a pile of dust. Now, with these 3 parts, I'm able to get the knob back on.. and the tripod functions. However, now it seems less smooth and there is the faintest little clicking sound with each up and down motion. Here are two pictures:

I'm sorry everybody, I am a complete idiot. Am I missing any other pieces? Could the problem be that the bearing (that's what I'm calling it) is dirty and is causing the problem? THANK YOU!

you could be missing another washer. You can try to give it alittle grease. I don't know if the manual have a list of parts that you can check. Hey, we all make mistakes. You just got to deal with it the best you can. Hey, I'm Asian and I failed math like 3 times, or was it 2 times, you see. Good luck!

Try some rollerblade oil (the one for the bearings). Or, you can go to a rollerskate place and buy a cleaning solution and oil and really clean the heck ou tof those parts. But always start with the siplest things. I guess it's the dirt.

I would take it to a camera store and have them check it out. Even if someone wrote out a response, assembling the tripod's smaller parts may be a hellva puzzle. No need to feel like you blew it though. No one taught you how to assemble a tripod so how would you know?

Make friends with the folks at your nearest camera store.

Whew, fixed it. I bought some bearing grease from the auto store and it worked like a charm. Thanks for all the feedback.
