Okay....so I am getting my feet re-wet in acting.

I need a demo reel re-cut. I have a ton of footage on my hard drive just sitting here. New stuff....some really cool stuff.

So as a crap hot editor that you are, LOL, what would you need from me? Aside from money. Would you want a copy of all my production stills, and headshots? Would you want me to pre-cut all the clips?

I am going to eventually post this up in Jobs, but I want to get everything ready for that person, 'cause I don't want to edit it myself, LOL, I suck.

There are differing opinions on what should be included in a showreel - In talking to agents & casting directors I believe you need to show what you'd done, they want to see you act, how you look, how you move, your versatility - production stills and headshots don't play a part in that.

You need to collect all the commercial footage you have (stuff you got paid for), if you're short on that, no budget stuff, short films etc gets thrown in the mix. Monologues done to camera are a complete waste of time. The commercial stuff not only shows you acting but shows what another person choose you for. I'd want to see all the footage - I don't want you deciding whats 'good' and cutting the rest (not that I doubt your judgement but casting directors are time poor, unimaginative & risk averse) ((yes - I'm a cynical old bastard))

you need to decide what you're aiming for (your agent can help here) I might believe there's a fantastic Romeo inside me somewhere but I have to be realistic - I ain't ever gonna get cast in that role! work out your 'brand' or 'type' that will affect the footage you include in the reel.

my 2 cents worth
