Hi guys,

I got a AG-DVC30, (yes I know the DVX100A is so much better but I couldn't afford it!),
and was wondering...

Is it a huge deal if I use Sony Premium miniDV tapes instead of Panasonic MQ, as long as I never switch between the two tapes?

I already have 5 of those tapes and they are $2 cheaper per tape than the Panasonic MQ, so I want to do it, as long as the Sony tapes will not hurt my new camcorder. I know the MQ tapes are best but I can settle for the Premium tapes by Sony if it means I can shoot a lot more footage!!!

So, is this OK? Or is there some problem I don't know about?

Thanks!!!

My guess is you'll be fine. There's no conclusive evidence to the contrary anyway. Just don't switch.

I know people are going to say I'm messing my camera heads up. I used everything from MQ tapes, to wal-mart brand tapes, to scotch tape. So far, all my cameras have been working perfectly including my DVX which I used a variety of tapes. I know I'm ruining my camea heads but you know what, I'm putting my DVX to the test.

Tuliptrees, you should be okay. Don't do what I do. I'm a rebel and I like breakin rules.. ;)
