OK to use filters from Canon L1?

I have three 72mm Canon filters for the L-1 from my days of Hi8. Are they suitable for use on the DVX? There are issues with auxilliary lenses and resolution limitations going from one format to a higher rez one; but filters should work fine, right? ND8, circular polarizer, and UV/Clear.

I'm pretty much sold on getting a DVX, and when I finally _buy_ one, I'd like to protect the lens straight away as well as impliment the other lenses.

They should work fine on the DVX. The only caveat I'll mention is the quality of the UV filter. If your UV isn't multicoated, then I'd buy a good multicoated UV filter like the Hoya (~$30). I've seen problems with single coated UV filters where specular highlights cause flare that disappears with a multicoated filter. How can you tell if your filter has a good coating? Sit next to a window and hold the filter at a 45 degree angle from the window and look at the reflection. If the filter has a bright white reflection, the coating is poor. If you see a very faint reflection or almost no reflection, the filter has a high quality multicoating.

Yeah Jarred has a picture in one of these threads with the reflection of a filter...not sure where though :-/

I had a personal experience with Quantaray. I shot some test footage and saw something strange.. it was a reflection of the lens! So I got the Hoya super multi-coated. Problem never camer back. Get the right one the first time.

Anybody wanna buy a Quantaray filter cheap?? ;D
