Im using 1.5 Pro and have some 24pA footage shot in squeeze mode. Editing in a Panasonic 24p timeline, and I simply want to export a work area clip. The problem is when i export using" Export > Movie > DV AVI > compresspor: DV 24p Advanced/ pixel aspect ratio DV/NTSC widescreen 16:9" the footage isnt widescreen, its 4:3, so the footage is obviously vertically stretched when played back on all programs...windows media player does this thing where it flcikers between 4:3 and 16:9 letterboxed...I've tried multiple cressors, Quicktime as well, and that results in a 4:3 video as well...so I cant seem to get this to work. Any step by step exporting solutions for this set up would be GREATLY appreciated. I just want some high quality footage to watch for playback and to send to friends to view. Thanks in advance.

Ok, depending on what you are trying view the video on you have to take the appropriate actions. If it is going to be viewed on a computer monitor using some sort of compressor like divx you have to export using a pixel aspect ration of 1.0 since a computer monitors PAR is 1.0. this will give you black bars on top and bottom if you dont want them than set your resolution to 720x405 i think (could be wrong on that) if this is for a DVD than export using a PAR of 1.2 since the dvd player will letterbox the video if it is being shown on a 4:3 monitor. If this is going to be printed to tape like a VHS than you have to export as a PAR of 1.2 then letterbox the footage yourself in a premiere 4:3 timeline and export it as a regular 4:3 PAR .9. If you are backing it up to a mini-dv tape then you will want to export it using PAR of 1.2 (this Mini-DV backup wil be played squeshed if outputed to a television but if you want to keep the full resolution you will have to capture that backup and do one of the earlier suggestions
