Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

Where can i start. I love the hero´s journey! it´s a very well craft, art and tool to use in actual cinema, and whatever say in other countries, like here in Spain, the Journey is universal (since we´ve read the same tales and myths).
BE AWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS...!!!!

Constantine is a perfect example as was the first Matrix. It´s something everybody is willing to see and put in the mix with some demons, angels and humans.

The script is well structured and amusing. Even it has some funny jokes that made everybody laugh. In my opinion it was a well invested money for them (Warner, Village Roadshow!) And for me (popcorns, jumps and Rachel Weisz!).

Photography, well, in the point. I mean, is what it should have. And the inferno look was eye catching (althoug very little time on it so no joy on the ride (maybe it should have a little secuence there, like ten minutes looking for the sista...)). Best shot... The giving finger one. Awesome! I might say Perfect! It explained all the film in ten seconds! Problems? bubblegum... Hummm!Blade-like-party... Hummm! Well, it´s not sold to marketing as it could be so let´s pass it.

Acting? It´s an action flick, they are all ok, but. But Keanu doesn´t give all the point like Constantine took down. The script didn´t put him low enough to feel pity and danger for him, so the ordaly is not enough hard for the character, who is strong to go over it. Peter Stormare... I wanna be taken to hell by him!  8)  Make a film for him and Tilda Swinton (gabriel) and everybody will be happy.

Garth Ennis can get a grinn of having a not so bad comic-to-cinema adaptation. Enjoy!  ;)

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

I was wondering if someone was going to start it...

I think that I didn't want to admit that I saw it. ;)

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, though I have no desire to see it again. Cinematography was great, though.

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

I saw it Tuesday and a agree with the previous two posts.

I got my copy of POST in the mail and there is an article in there about the special effects, it mentions an artist named Rich Lee who was hired by Mike Fink. Would that be the Rich Lee we all no and love or is it an imposter?

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

It's awight!  I didn't laugh at any of those supposedly funny punch lines. I'd see it agian if Jessica Alba ask me. ;)

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

Overall I liked it. It wasn't anything amazing or groundbreaking (did hell remind any one else of doom 3?).

It was nice however to see alot of attention paid to the story. Most comic book movies seem to move from one action piece to another, this took its time. However I would have liked a tad bit more on the action side as it seemed to crawl through near the middle.

But this is one of the few movies where keanu reeves didn't bug me. Which is saying alot.

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

Bluespider... Cheesy Alba?i don´t know what to say... Alba is uncapable of looking hard or good, better to go with Jenny Garner or choose the one in O.C. I don´t know the name, but looks like she´s gonna fly with superman... I would be their slave...

And the finger was great, i´m sure you smiled at it ;) don´t be shy to open your heart.

Bob, to get groundbreaking and amazing action flick let´s wait for Rodriguez and Sin City... This could be THE adaptation! Miller must be banging his head in anxiety, just like me.

for the wait, Constantine make it. Although maybe some of the punch lines is true they were obvious, it´s not the words, but the way they say them (you can use this phrase for everything and still work...). ;D

Let's just completely hijack this thread into a Sin City discussion. Because, let's face it, the very thought of Sin City is far greater than Constantine could have ever been.

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

It's the most boring and longest anti-smoking advertising campaign I've ever seen. First thing I wanted to do when I left the theater was to light a cigarette.

I'm just surprised we didn't see the chewing gum brand in the end — what do the marketing specialists do? They should be fired.

Keanu Reeves has approximately as much charisma as a boiled salad — except that the boiled salad doesn't cost $15 zillions.

Only Lucifer was a bit interesting, by contrast with the dullness of the rest. Unfortunately, he only appeared for five minutes.

Seriously. This is undersubculture at its most depressing stage. Wake up consumers! Readymade spirituality is not a fatality.

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

Tu cherches quand même un peu la merde, Anartiste. C'est comme tous ces gens en orbite qui ont été voir iz-so-bad.

Is a consumer awake still a consumer ?

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

Anartiste you are right about the antismoking campaign, but in the original comic Constantine had brain cancer, and due to this cancer is not so visible and certainly not so in vouge... they decided to change it. A pity...

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

I was not sure about seeing this one the other day, then I went to see Millions Dollar Baby, what a good move. After reading your comments I'm not urge to go, but I will go for the cinematography of Philippe Rousselot DP.

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

Shadow, it depends on the mood you have this day. It took me like three weeks to go and see Million Dolar Baby. Couple of hours to decide go Constantine.

And sure i believe Clint and his Million is way better film than C, in fact, this year Oscars should F**k Scorsese with is 100 million dollar flick and do what Mr. Eastwood deserves, means everything for him before he gets the honorific for his long succesful career...

With everything written before i just wanna said that films like C make an important job in society, that is to ease people´s problems and working class Stress, at least for a couple of hours and the subsequent beer chating... ;D

We had a great film shot with XL1 which got distribution deal and was very funny called "La Fiesta" (the party). In it there were two yonkies comic characters speaking and they said something so hilarious and real like a true fact.

"man, only poor people who can´t pay a cinema ticket buy books..."

Awesome...

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

I saw this flick with a "ladyfriend" so I wasn't paying attention to the movie all that much - I don't remember the second half of the movie but the first part was decent.

Ooh yah

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

Tell us more about the second half you got to experience. ;)

::) What!? Jessica Alba = Finest Woman on the Planet. Garner is very cute, but nothing compared to Jessica Alba. Just watch her in the Sin City trailer. MMM MM.

Re: Ok, i´ll do it... Constantine!

I must agree with Skital and Spider, Jessica Alba is pretty dam fine.

I'm a fan of both her and Jennifer Garner (Alias and Dark Angle Rock!)

I mean they are both really... Oh! This thread is about Constantine!

Ok...In my opinion, I was really in there for the first 3/4s of the film, I was enjoying the storyline and the build up (and the visual effects)

However, I just felt like... I was left wanting more from the ending and it didn't quite deliver.

Well, that's my two cents

Now back to Jessica Alba, man is she a honey...

I, like most others, thought the cinematography was fabulous.

But the story was about the same as “The Prophecy,” which was, in all, a better movie.
