OK, explain this...

Any two digit number from which you subtract the sum of the two digits will always give you a multiple of 9.
Because as you add one to the number, it means one more you're subtracting, which keeps the answer in the same place...
For example:
11-2=9
12-3=9
13-4=9
And as you go up by multiples of 10, you hit the next multiple of 9 when you subtract...
10-1=9
20-2=18
30-3=27
40-4=36
and so on...
and every multiple of 9 on that chart always has the same answer....
The rest of the chart is just filler - no matter what number you pick, you'll always wind up with a multiple of 9.

Wait. That sounds all well and good. But my wife and I just picked
4 different numbers and it correctly guessed 4 different items.
Bread maker, board game, mouse pad and Brick of Fruit cake.
Impossible. I need a better explanation, unless it's just random luck.

What the frack? Regardless of how few "true" choices there are, it still guessed 5 random
items in a row.
It's starting to freak us out. I don't know what their selling, but I'm buying.

To be fair, you didn't explain it...you just said you'd always get the same answer no matter what number... .which is kind of begging the question.
Just sayin'
What has not been noted in the explanations is that the answers on the board change every time, and the "correct" answer is always on the multiples of 9.
