Pookie, is that you in that rig?! Damn! Were you on a special edition of Steadicam Op Fear Factor? That looks dangerous, but kinda fun at the same time. Can you do a 'step off' with that contraption?

This shot is part of a rather elaborate steadicam shoot.
The shot starts on a rooftop, all Steadicam.
The shoot opens with a walk out of the fire exit, along the roof top up to the edge of the roof, stopping at the edge to do a 360 shot. While rotating, assistants clipped into the rig you see in the shot, and is slowly flown to the ground. Another slow pan, getting unhooked from the rig, then walks round the fountain in between the two buildings. Approaching the second building, re hooked to a second rig, and flown up to the roof of building two, get unhooked at the top again and slowly walk along the roof into the fire exit on the roof.
It's a 4 minute uncut shoot, took 6 takes, came out perfectly.

That must be the most cool looking shot EVER! One of those where people wonder, "How'd they do that? Must be computer." But no, it's all smoke and mirrors (or wires).
Nice stuff. How exciting to be a part of it.

Kyle Sherman! Where have you been, dog? You are like a shooting star whose light burned out. I know you still have the passion and are probably too busy doing and learning to sit around pushing letters on a keyboard.

I'm working on getting a copy of that shoot, but, as my Italian is "slightly" on the vague side, and the shoot in question was for Italian TV (RAI), it might take a little time....but I"ll eventually get it.
It's a very cool shot.

Well, as my Italian is pretty much limited to "il gabinetto (bathroom), Parla inglese, Chiamate un dottore (I need a doctor) and Non parlo l'italiano ", I think I missed something important in the last production meeting before the shoot.
I thought were were deciding what was for lunch.....
