Quentin Tarantino has become one of directors who is inspired by James Cameron's 'Avatar' as he shares his plan for making his next 'Kill Bill' sequel in 3-D.

Quentin Tarantino is set to make his movies even more graphic - he wants to make the next "Kill Bill" sequel in 3-D. James Cameron's Oscar-nominated 3-D epic "Avatar" has inspired a number of other filmmakers to adopt the popular technique.

George Lucas is planning to revive his "Star Wars" films in 3-D, while studio bosses at Warner Bros. have confirmed the technology will be implemented for the final installments of the "Harry Potter" franchise. Tarantino has been a fan of 3-D movies for several years and wishes he had acquired the technology prior to the release of "Kill Bill" in 2003, because he would have happily included the popular effects.

Tarantino is set to make a third film in the franchise and he's hinted he may use the technology for "Kill Bill 3", which is due for release in 2014. He tells WENN, "I was thinking of 3-D after I saw 'House of Wax', I've always liked 3-D. I was thinking 3-D after I saw "Friday the 13th". I've always liked 3-D. So if I had the right stories, for instance if I could do 'Kill Bill' allover again I'd be tempted to do it in 3-D."

So does this mean Quentin "I'm going to stop making movies when all theaters project in digital" Tarantino is going to shoot digitally?

Wait... George Lucas is planning on re-releasing Star Wars (again) but in 3d? Doesn't it have to be filmed with two cameras for that to happen? Maybe the CG can be re-don, but... can someone explain?

Lucus will finally get his wish and be able to destroy the original trilogy. Every single shot will have to have CG elements put into them.

Any news on wether of not Speilberg is going to redo ET with 3D walkie talkies?

Actually, no. They can go in and 3D-ize existing films. I've seen bits of Star Wars and a couple of other films that have gone through this process.

It's quite amazing, but it's also -- well, the effect made it look more like a "pop-up book" than like "reality", as far as I was concerned.

Yeah, because wouldn't you need to the second angle to be at a very slight different angle? Thus the two cameras (or lenses?).

So if they just 'double' the image everything will still look very 2-d, just some things pop out more than others.

Then what about perspective? How does that incorporate into 3d? Would they need to cut out everything from their planes and alter them to give a 3d perspective?

I really don't get why...

That's funny to hear, because I was just at the SB Film Festival at a panel with Tarantino, Rietimen, Cameron, Bigelow and some others and QT kept bashing anything digital.

He even said that he would "burn his theater in LA down before showing anything digital. Film forever." But, he and Cameron got talking and QT eventually said that the only way that 3d would aid him is for those graphic sequences in Kill Bill.

He also seemed very adamant about retiring by the time he was 60 and teaching at a film school.
