Well, she lost her looks, what little she had, but she still could buy and sell any of us (I think?) and she definitely still has power. She has lost her relevance as a sort of artist but when you have a few hundred million in the bank, who cares?

I never thought she had much talent but she did have good enough taste to hire the best music video directors in the history of the genre over and over again. She is an icon and will remain one for a long time.

Yep, she didn't age well, but I chalk that up to genes. I look at pictures of myself at 24 and look in the mirror today and think the same thing, I crapped out on that genetic lottery.

Right at this moment she looks better than Michael Jackson (also at this moment). I cannot say anything more clever than "we are not getting younger". When I saw her show in Barcelona in 1989 I was thrilled. She is not so much a singer, but a performance artist.

Why can't people just age. Just let it go. I think some wrinkles and sags look so much better than the clown face she now has. And I doubt you can go back. I think that is what happened to MJ. He kept trying to fix bad surgeries, and it was one car crash after the next.

Amen! American society, in particular, is mocked worldwide because we are so shallow and superficial. Next time you travel internationally, just click on the news. Wow! Real people not plastic supermodels who read the news here. Now that the boomers are all getting old, perhaps we will see a bit more acceptance of wrinkles, gray hair and aging. We all go through it, it is a beautiful part of life so why does our media have to ignore it? The economic shift away from the 18-34 bracket to the 34-65 bracket will have to have some impact on mass media. We can only take so many Taylor Swifts!

I remember the first time I saw Madonna. It was her Borderline video. Boy, was she beautiful. I was a smitten kid. I honestly think she would still be beautiful if not for the plastic surgery. Take a look at someone like Rachel Welch. Either she has incredibly seemless plastic surgery or none at all. She'll be 70 this year and she looks better than many 30 year olds.

But of course puredrifing does have a point. Having good genes helps.
