oh crap...

So I took the filter off to do a little dustin off... then I saw this one little spec of dust on the lens itself. I tried blowing it off and then I thought if I were to LIGHTLY use my fingernail, it might come out... now theres a light mar to the lens.
How sensitive is this lens??!

I light rubbed off most of the mar but through certain angles, I could still see it. Should I put a bullet through my head guys? I blew it

goodbye o' friends

Re: oh crap...

"Should I put a bullet through my head"....no....but to set an example for the others, you must cut off the little offender.

Re: oh crap...

Before you mutilate yourself, go to a camera store and buy some lintless swabs and a bottle of lens cleaner and gently swab the area clean. You probably got the junk off, but are now smearing around some oil from your finger.

Re: oh crap...

Yeah, just buy some lens cleaner and lens cleaning papers. It should come clean pretty easily.

Re: oh crap...

Yeah, that would look cool, blood dripping down the lens; a scream, and then the cam fades out....

Re: oh crap...

That would be cool. So be sure to hit record before you clean it!

Re: oh crap...

Are all lens cleaner solutions created equal, or is there a certain one we should use?

To be honest I'm not sure, but I believe that some low grade cleaning solutions can sometimes contain h2o or worse solvents that are corrosive to rubber. (I know you want it for the Glass lens, but sometimes when applying it you can get it on other parts of the camera).

I'm sure one of the "Masters" on this board knows of a good quality cleaning solution.
