Offset Blues

The GG on my LEX is at least 20 percent off center on my HVX 200, forcing me to zoom in more than I'd like to. No vista vision here. Not even close. It covers the image at 78 (82 being 35mm cine). Is this normal amongst other LEX users? Or is my camera out of whack? Is my LEX an anomaly. I have mine positioned snorkel down. If I could center this image that would really open up alot of flexibility in my FOV. I just don't recall having that much offset with my SG or Brevis.

Tim the HVX200 and HV20 stand out as cameras that typically suffer XY misalignment to varying degrees. That's why our flip module is (and will always be) a separate component over our base unit....to allow correction for these cams while keeping the 35mm lens centered in relation to the imaging element, and the achromat correctly centered over the camera lens. That said, the worst I've seen from these two cams is about a 15% skew. I've never seen one 20% out of whack.

Do a frame grab, then rotate your adapter 180 degrees and take another frame grab. Compare them. If the camera is off the image will remain skewed left or right about the same amount. If the problem is the adapter, a skew to the right will become a skew to the left and vice versa.

Cheers
Dennis.

I wish somebody will sell a proper working xy-adujstment soon, but I
don't think one can count on that anymore.

Actually I don't understand where the problem is.
The easiest way is using two dovetail plates in 90° with a
hole in the middle. On both sides dovetail-clamps with 72mm or whatever
threads - thats it.
Between the Brevis and the flip it's even easier. You only need one
dovetail and one clamp, because you can rotate it in the right direction.

I think, that's my next DIY project.

The Letus Ultimate is the first adapter with proper X/Y adjustment. It's not screws-and-bolts crazy, however that's the Ultimate so. I wouldn't be surprised if Letus dropped an X/Y Adjustment upgrade on the Extreme of similar capacity. It was a one time deal for me, adjusted it to be perfectly centered on the HVX200A and haven't touched it since.

The Brevis MP.1 flip has always had two XY adjustments. They're simple, and they work. To retool an elaborate mechanism makes little sense as for most folks, it's a set once and forget situation. Our flip is a separate module specifically for that reason (and it would be much cheaper to just make a one-piece unit!). A one piece adapter cannot do a proper XY adjust this as the entire 35mm lens mount and assembly must move together as a unit, leaving the achromat and flip optics centered on the camera. The situation of XY adjust has been well know for several years in the adapter industry and our flip design expanded on the adjustment range that was already there with the first Brevis unit.

You're saying that it can't do it in a one-piece unit and the Ultimate does. Please note that I did say PROPER X/Y adjustment. Screws pushing this or that to the side as an X/Y adjustment isn't engineering genius, flawed inherently. If it works it works, and hey it's a CHEAP way to do it so why not?
