1. I've read a few posts throughout the forum about people asking what codecs and settings they should use to get a 16:9 demo to put up on the web. Most feature films have trailers in the Quicktime format, so lets use that as the standard for web releasing. I have no idea what codec is used for this (Sorenson?) nor do I know what settings. Lets assume you want pretty much the best quality possible.
2. When you complete editing footage, you can render a demo, render an MPEG2 (dvd) file, but those are all for "release". What codec/format should you use to maintain 100% of the quality so that you can always re-code it at a later date/time in some format you haven't thought of right now? This isnt related to backing up data, but rather having a master uncompressed version of the final product. What format should this be in? What codec? What settings?
