Offical on Camera Light & Accessories LED /Non-LED

....the only reason I imagine why the vidleds are beige/white is the case being non-custom made, right vidled?
Looks like the housing can be taken appart, so maybe a lttle paint job will do the mojo...
Are you taking international orders?

Hey.

No, the housing ARE made specifically for this. The reason for the color is because this materiel was only available in that one color. It is quite a special plastic blend with a VERY HIGH RECYCLED PLASTIC CONTENT!!!

The housing CAN NOT be taken apart.

Paint is something we will try this coming week: if "satisfactory", we will offer black housing versions for an additional cost.

International orders are fine, yes.

SO on the deluxe model with the internal battery.... IS it still possible to use one of your external batteries for longer run times and for when the internal batteries run out?

Looks sweet.. I'd opt for a Tie Die color.. Lol... People get so caught up in black don't they?

DELUXE model: no, once the battery is flat it needs to be recharged with supplied charger. We still have see about additional run times like you describe, but that's a month or so away (at least) until that can be confirmed/tested.

TieDie: LOL, NOW I need to try that!! Will post pic once done! ;-)

Hey Vid,.....I would first need the housing to be black in order to use them.

Hey Jay,
as noted aboce (or below if you have "display-last-message-first" option selected: we will experiment with "colorizing" the housing. More on that in a week or so....watch this space...

Thank you sir.. I hope it all works out!

I like the battery meter.. Big question, can you plug in the external battery once the internal one goes dead? If I don't like it can I send it back and get my money back?

I'm trying to figure out which of the Vidleds to get...warm, daylight, or cool. I will be shooting video at E3, mainly stand up run and gun interviews. I'm leaning towards the cool cause it's brighter and I can just put a gel over it to get rid of the "blue." I'm concerned with the daylight combination leds giving a weird 2 tone effect. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
- Jarek

vidled vs. Litepanel

vidled vs. Litepanel

vidled - $245.00

Kino Flo Mini-Flo 9" Kit - $829.17

Litepanel DV kit- $685.00

Hi,

Some observations/questions

Isn't comparing "vidled" with "lightpanel" kind of strange as although the "vidled" is almost half the price it is also less than half the amount of LED's. Am i missing something?

Is the difference between the flood and spot version of litpanel in the actual LED's or just in how they are set in the actual panel. Couldn't the flood version be changed in to a spot version with some black-wrap?

I once played around with the lightpanel's on a daylight shoot, and found them to be completely useless as a fill even on close-up's. So im thinking that they would mostly be useful in low-light and interior settings, so getting the tungsten version seems the obvious choice. Someone mentioned the daylight version had more light output. Once filtered to tungsten are they the same?

What's the benefit of using the small kinoflo?

The coolLED you are quoting the price on uses double-chipped LEDs; i.e. each of our cool T1¾ LEDs has two dies.

Ligtpanel - 140 LED's (are ther's different technology?)

Vidled - 52 LED's (x2?)

Not to say one is less good than the other as both seem to have allot going for them, just curios? I loved your promo video!!!

Aye: 104 in cool

Promo video: thanks, although I am keen to make another with better production values! :)

Aye: 104 in cool - what does this mean? Sorry stupid me

Vidled - 52 LED's @ 2 dies each = 104 LED dies per light

But this only applies to the coolLED version.

How does this compare to a LED from ligtpanel? Does one of your LED's equal 2 of theres in term's of light output?

You mean per individual LED? Yes, pretty much double output.
But if you want to get more technical, feel free to email me, and I can give more technical stuff if you like.

How come no one has mentioned Zylight yet? 230 leds packed into 1" square, and 30 watts of power... I think this is the future, it's switchable from tungsten to daylight and has a wireless link built in so you can mount them together to make a big source like the 1x1 or bigger. They had a 2x2 demo at NAB that was seriously cool! the info is at www.zylight.com

Zylight has been discussed for sure. They are awesome lights!!

They use a Lamina Ceramics RGB LED that puts out a combined 310 lumens.
We will be offering a new LED light in a few months that uses LAMINA's daylight balanced (5500K) and warm (4300K) LED that puts out 567lm or 525lm respectively. Oh, and it will INCLUDE a rechargeable li-ion battery.

I think it was Jerred who rightly mentioned that LEDs can be "difficult" on the subject's eyes; hence good optics and diffusion is ESSENTIAL; something we have found good solutions for.

I would like to use the lights to light up the interior of cars or when you need a little fill but dont have space to stick in a light on a stand or arm. Whats nice about vidlight and lightpanel is that they are flat.

Can you elaborate?
