off axis compensation with Letus Extreme

Hi,

How many of you have a camera that is off center when you zoom in to the LEX ground glass?

Ive read that HVX200 and EX1 are both off center when you zoom to the gg. Im still waiting for my EX1 to arrive but have been testing my LEX with my miniDV. It is also off axis.

So are the any off axis ring adapters out there? Has anyone built one?

Hmmm... I actually tried this on my own accord cause I thought it would be sensible if it would work like that. But the 77mm ring I have is really tight and doens not move left or right at all.

Am I doing something wrong or does that advice only work with the Flip edition. I have Letus35 Extreme with 77mm thread ring.

Sent an email to Letus. No answer just yet so I thought Id speculate a little further.

The 77mm ring means the ring that is attached to the camera threads right? There are the 3 screws, I take them off. Try to move the ring to the left. But the 77mm ring doesnt move left or right even the tiniest bit. It sits really tight on the adapter and has no margin whatsoever to move.

It cant mean that I have to attach the thread ring off axis to the adapter?

like this:
- (adapter)
\ (77mm ring)

instead of
- (adapter)
- (77mm ring)

That would result in image being on focus on one side of ground glass and out of focus on the other side.

"That link someone posted that talked about loosening the screws was for when the image is rotated left or right, not offset." -DeGrey/Letus

So back to my original question. Has anyone come up with a way to compensate for the horisontal offset?

Apparently HVX, EX1 and I can confirm my Sony DCR-PC115E PAL miniDV camera is quite a lot offset to the left.
