OConnor Fluid Head ReBuilding Instructions

HI All

I have an older O'Connor Fluid Head. Model 30b. It is in need of a rebuild. I contacted O'Connor and they no longer support this head. Not only that, but they dont have ANY diagrams of it. I found one place that wanted 6 or 800 dollars to rebuild it. Although it is built like a tank, and probably worthy of the 6 to 800 dollar price tag to make it whole again, that was out of my budget. (not to mention, it probably does not have some of the more common features that today's moder Fluid heads have like adjustable spring Centering ETC) Anyway, it is a fantastic fluid head that has provided me many many years of rewarding use. I was really disappointed thinking that I would have to give up and buy a 600 dollar bogen to replace it.

(not that there is anything wrong with Bogen, but, in my humble opinion only, they don't compare in quality or stability to this O' Connor, and most Bogen/Manfrotto are not TRUE fluid heads, at least, as we think of fluid heads operationally. Most are Lubricated Friction heads, as backed up and pictorally displayed on the below link)

I stumbled upon this site. I thought I would post it here. The person who put this together is not available at the email address. The Production company on the site is DOA. I don't know who this person was, but I sure would like to thank him for posting his rebuild of an O' Connor Model 30.

I ordered some of the fluid from Dow Corning as he described, and hope to delve into my own re-build later this week. Looks easy enough to me.

If anyone knows the person who posted this site, thank them for me!!

Glad you found my site useful. Sorry if I don't always answer my email, but I'm still around! Hope your Model 30 project went well.

I no longer do video production professionally, and regretfully need to divest myself of my own Model 30 (working fine, though has a very slow leak of silicone fluid). If anyone is interested, let me know.
