Awesome! You know I love your work, and I'm definately not making an exception with these! Great work! :)

Can't really pick a favourite, but I'm really liking that first one alot

Dude lovin the shots. Which lens did you have on? Killer look.

What amount of post did you do?

yeah, what they all said!!!! I'm going to go back to making flip books with my crayons, now. heh!!

Rich,

Excellent work. Looks like stills from a big blockbuster pic. Looks like you are going pretty wide, what lens are you using for this?

Nice widescreen effect also :)

You got it goin' on.

thanks guys.

kai- i used a 17-40 f4, 50 f1.4, and 70-200 f 2.8. i tweaked the color and contrast a bunch in photoshop. levels/whitebalance/contrast and i desaturated them by maybe 25%.

KOVAROVA- this wasnt for a video prep. i was in ny for a short film i had in the triggerstreet online filmfestival that was playing in Tribeca film festival. but i guess this is always some sort of prep for a video or short or whatever...

Thanks disjecta, im definitly liking the idea of just runing around with a still camera and shooting everything as if it was a movie. im going to see about having my still camera mounted with a ground glass that shows 2.35 in the viewfinder, as well as make a little number system that goes on the lens to show me what focal length i am at compared to super 35 film lenses.

Zmike- thanks man. yeah, the first is my favorite out of the all the shots i took. it feels to me like it was shot in europe some where...

There is no reason that shouldn't be possible. Finding a plain matte may be difficult, though.

P+S Technik makes replacement ground glasses, but they're around $700... I know, I know.. that's not a realistic option.

Maybe try Brightscreen.. He makes screens with all sorts of custom crop lines for around $250, I believe... They're fresnal-based which may or may not be your cup of tea.

Hope this helps.

thanks john!

thisiswells- yeah, i know its possible. the dp on pirates that i worked with, had panavision take his d70 and changed its viewfinder to show super 35 2.35. i think they did it for him for free...but for me...probly cost some bucks...but i will call them anyway...just to see...

Dude Rich, Always liked your work bro. You have the eye of a cinematographer. How much did you pay for those lens?

Awesome shots!

Why does it make me feel like I have no business holding a camera? :(

Seriously though, great stuff.

I especially love the first one (the faces in the crowd).

Chris

Hey Rich, wasn't it the girl down at the left side in the first shot you were looking at but too bad you were zoom out. :cheesy:

Sérieux, nice shots, nice density and color saturation. Those digital cameras always getting better and better.

hehe...totaly...she was hot. shes totaly the focus of the shot...in amongst the mass of people. i wish that dude on the right was a bit lower in frame and not so prominent...it would have made the whole shot feel a bit more interesting that way...but hes out of focus so its ok. but yeah, i love how we only see a sliver of her.

Bermudaforce-the 50mm was like 350 i think...the 17-40 was about 700..and the 70-200 was around 700 as well.

thanks for the compliments everyone

peace!
