NVIDIA is the new bitcoin

Bubble is not going to soon burst. NVDA stock ticker on an epic track. Only buy what you can afford to lose.

I'm an S&P guy. I don't need to worry about things like this. but my guess is they'll see a correction in 1-3 years when the wildest predictions of AI hypesters fail to materialize. of course, it sort of depends on how the IP litigation shakes out. if generative AI is permitted to proceed on course without licensing its source material then I'll be wrong and they'll be at least partly right.

I missed out on that one! I thought my Toyota stock up 29% YTD and 69% in the last 12 mo. was doing pretty good, but now it seems not so great in comparison to Nvidia. :-(
Apple up 350% since Covid began turned out to be a great bet, even though it has slipped recently. I am sure it will come back up.

I wonder if Nvidia will turn out to be more like Game Stop.

Nvidia’s chips underpin all of the most advanced AI systems, giving the company a market share estimated at more than 80%. Nvidia’s shares have soared as a result, and the company is trading near a $2 trillion valuation, among the U.S.’s top five most valuable companies.

Nvidia’s shares rallied 15% in morning trading Thursday, trading around $775. At the price, the company is adding around $250 billion in market value, or roughly the size of Netflix.

That said, AI companies so far are not making that much money but the investment being poured into the technology is fueling the rise in stock price.

I heard someone compare the AI boom to the gold rush. The saying goes that the only people who really made money in the gold rush were the shovel and pick salesmen... which, in this analogy, is NVIDIA

I bought some today, it won't surprise me if it falls back tomorrow. I won't wager more than I can afford to lose but it's trading with a PE ratio similar to Intel which doesn't have nearly the upside so it could be a long term play.

The ARGO mine and tunnel in Idaho Springs Colorado began in 1893 after a gold rush of miners looking for fortune, they had a problem that their mine shafts filled with water. Samuel Newhouse built a 4 mile long underground tunnel connecting the mines with a 1/2% grade so that water would drain naturally without being pumped and charged the mine owners for the drainage. Unbeknownst to them, the drained water also contained more gold than was being retrieved from within the mine shafts.

Never heard of Daniel Day-Lewis in anything since. Awesome actor. That same year, No Country for Old Men with Javier Bardem. Together with There Will Be Blood released the same year, two of the scariest acting roles ever.

Think of the convergence of solar farms, AI processors and 5G. The entire comms infrastructure is replaced in the desert.

From a corporate perspective, I just don't know how anyone would ever again bother with humans for this stuff.

Said it a million times...world keeps getting faster and products need to be immediate, changing every single day, hour. Pumped out of a factory.

No art, art is done.

Just makes too much sense and always did in my brain - but not my heart - that machines will replace so much (not that it's really shocking at this point anyway).
