Hi
I wanted to see if any of you had any ideas how they pulled off the intro for the Showtime series Nurse Jackie seen here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1reaej51Fdg

. I am trying to do a similar effect and think that they may have shot the "falling" object in front of a green screen and then just composited them onto the shots of Nurse Jackie standing there. They were obviously shot at a super high frame rate. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

'Sup, East Bay? Cold enough for ya? :-)

A few thoughts.

1. Never underestimate footage shot at super-high/variable frame rates IN REVERSE. The DVD of Aliens shows one of the great all-time reverse-shot fakeouts (the facehugger in medlab strangling Ripley).
2. No doubt that's a good amount of compositing, keyed well and perhaps by orienting the camera sometimes in portrait orientation instead of landscape?
3. If you shoot closeups with no hair or faces in them, the "falling up" effect can be done as both reverse playback AND shooting the live plate literally upside down.
4. Certainly some of those shots are most easily done as 3D, but certainly not all of them.

I'd never seen that sequence before - fun stuff, matches the mischevious music as well. Well done.
