NTSC to PAL?

I am finishing up a project for a client that I shot in NTSC, 24P 29.97

At our last meeting he informed me that some of the end users are in Europe and he wanted to know if I could create a PAL version.

Now I know that going from 29.97 to PAL (25fps...?) is not a great idea. But I want to show him the results so he can judge for himself. I have MPEG Streamclip, which has the option of outputting to PAL, but the result is still 29.97.

Does anyone have any other advice?

Thanks.

What does '24p 29.97' mean... if you have 24p with the pulldown (up) to get to 29.97, why not just produce it at 24p, then run it 4% at 25 fps...

And of course 'letterboxed' on to the larger frame, verticalwise, of PAL.

What it means is that I shot on a DVX scene file F5, which is 24P, not PA. So when I bring the files into FCP, they show up with 29.97 for the framerate.

But can't you still remove the pulldown, and the result will be 24 fps (23.97). The PA patter makes it more likely there will be no interlace artifacts in the result.

Since I have only FC Express, I've only done the remove pulldown using either Premiere or After Effects. So, I can't try this in FCP to check the results.
