NTSC to PAL

recently I had to make a dvd for a client who wanted to sent it to Europe.
I had to change it to PAL. the only way i had to do it was through FCP.
Please tell me that this was the right thing to do...

Exported from FCP using Comprerssor, in Compressor I chose PAL in the inspector and it changed my video
from 720 x 480 to 720 x 576
I then opened up DVD SP and went into my preferences and selected PAL.
I then went to the disc inspector and switched it to PAL .
when my DVD came out,
I played it on my DVD player that may play both NTSC and PAL,,,( I'm not sure ) it did play but the video looked like it had a bad interlaced problem.
I them took that same DVD and played it on an older DVD player and it could not be played at all...
So I think we got what we needed....
All through this, I was following the Apple Pro Training Series DVD SP manual

I hope we got it right....

When I played the dvd on my newer dvd player that is hooked up to my phillips 42" Plasma, I saw it with the bad interlaced looking picture.
I am not sure if that dvd player and tv can play NTSC, I bought them both about a year ago, and I think i saw something about them playing both NTSC and PAL,, but I am not sure.
As I mentioned before, I took that same dvd and played it in an older dvd palyer an an older tv tube monitor, the screen said that this dvd could not be played and to check the settings...
I followed the directions of the apple pro training series book and looking at the results of my dvd players expeience, I believe i got it done right...
I just wanted to see if someone else can confirm that..
I hope so !!!!

Sorry but you need to research your gear- it's kinda impossible to determine from here whether your TV is capable of playing what's on the DVD. As an FYI- all Pal DVD players and TV's in the UK can play NTSC DVDs. So if that's what this is for, it may be unnecessary.
