NTSC to DVI converter for editing monitor

Does anyone know about converting NTSC signal out of a video card like the Kona LHe into DVI? I have seen several converters that allow computer monitors to view NTSC HD signals.

I do not have a HD monitor for editing. I have heard that you can use a converter to monitor on flat panel displays. This seems like an attractive option if it works.

What are the drawbacks to doing that?

What are the alternative "low cost" HD monitoring options?

Can I use a consumer level CRT HD TV such as a Sony?
