I am unable to get NTSC out. I tried firewire to the camera and camera connected the monitor. I have firewire out selected. Any ideas?

So you are going from your g5 to your camera and then you have hooked a AV cable to your camera to a monitor? Well I don't know if you can do that but I might be wrong. But I would check to make shure you have the cam in VCR mode but then the camera might want to take an in signal from the AV then give you an out. If I was you I would just go buy a canopus media converter. But like I said I could be wrong and there is someone on here that has done this that can help you at good luck my friend.

Check and make sure that the Mac is recognizing the firewire device, in your system profiler. If it doesn't, try with another firewire cable. If that doesn't work, try the camera to another firewire computer (that you know works) or to another firewire camera. Double check your video preferences. Check and make sure the Macs fire wire port is working (connect another firewire device and see).

Do some basic trouble shooting and try to narrow down the problem to the camera, the computer or the application.

Put camera in VCR mode.
Set FCP to refresh AV devices (under view menu), set it to output to Firewire and to Play Back All frames

Works great!!!!

Works great!!!!

Scottdvx100 hit it right on. Got home this evening and only did the few settings and it is working great!!! Thank you all for your responses. I just switched from my PC to apple and FCP. I can't do much yet but I like the software and my new PowerMac. Only had it a week and now I hear apple is going to use intel, Have a great week, thanks again.
