I am currently in the U.S. If I make a dvd here will it be readable in australia and france. I dont know to much about the difference between pal and ntsc or if that would even affect the final dvd. Any help is appreciated. thanks

Actually it appears that all PAL DVD players have the ability to play regular NTSC DVDs. I've sold lots of DVDs to PAL countries and never had a single complaint or any incompatibility reports at all, and I master all my DVDs as NTSC.

So -- don't sweat it, just master as a region-free NTSC DVD...

I watch region 1 NTSC DVDs all the time here in NZ (PAL-land) on my $80 DVD player I got from the supermarket...

It was only initially in the DVD market in Australia where you could only play PAL , soon after DVD's came on strong people became savy to players that were NTSC compatable and from there it was a sought after feature that the manufacturers just went along with. Then just standard.
