ntsc dvd on pal systems....everything is black and white

So i just recently completed my first dvd film and sent it off to ireland to test out the dvd on the pal systems....i've heard that pal dvd players can play ntsc dvds no problems but just got word that the entire film was in black and white...and it's supposed to be in color......who does conversions to pal???

There is something else wrong, I watch NTSC here on PAL systems all the time.

The DVD player, or TV used must not be compatible.
