I’m not an expert, but I don’t think so.

How will you be editing? Will you be editing NTSC?

I don’t think it matters how you record the audio as long as your video frame rate never changes. Once your video frame rate changes then you have to deal with pull-up and pull-down and that makes my head hurt. I do know that NTSC-PAL conversion isn’t pretty.

I think if you record the audio at 48k (or 96k or 192k) you should be fine. Just don’t record at 44.1k (or 88.2k or 176.4k). I don’t know why audio for video is recorded at slightly higher sample rates. Does any one know why?

As far as I know, as long as you're not changing video frame rates (or formats) you can record the audio however you want and you should be good to go.
