Hi, i would like to use the NTG2 shotgun with pcm-m10.
Since the shotgun is XLR i would use an adaptor XLR-1/8 cable.
I will also put some batteries on the NTG2 since there is no phantom power provided with the pcm-m10.

Will i have a good sound you think ? Will it work well ?
Thanks in advance for your time
Have a good day

Sounds solid in concept since the NTG2 will take batteries, but I don't have the experience to know what adapter would work. I can tell you I do have a Sony M10, and at one time I was looking for a preamp/interface to run an NT1A through to the M10. I changed my mind and ended up deciding to go with a computer interface instead. Then again, you sound like you're recording in the field, whereas I'm doing a studio type thing.

If money isn't an issue...

thanks. Finally i thought of buying the Rode videomic pro with pcm-m10. Since i want to record a teacher at 10 m from my recorder, i was wondering if the rode videomic pro will give way better results that the built-in mic of the pm10.
And i was wondering if i will have to use the +20db option on the rode videomic pro.
Thanks in advance

Define how good is good?

- To me 10m is too far to be good.
- If you record the teacher in a regular classroom, typically a shotgun mic is no good, though it won's hurt to try before dismissing the idea.
- To record a human voice using M10's built-in mics, the optimal distance is less than 10cm, by my own exp.
- Battery-powered NTG-2 -> XLR adapter -> m10 should work fine, technically.
- VMP should be just like ntg-2. I doubt +20db patch is needed for optimal results.
