NTFS on OSX

I have an NTFS external drive that I am going to use to pull some files from a friends Mac Pro. How do I change the permissions settings to Read/Write in order to copy file to/take files from the drive?

You'll need to format it as FAT32 if you want to use it on a Mac and PC. There is no way to write to a NTFS drive when you're on a Mac, unless you are accessing via a network.
