November 3rd? Pshaw. The real announcement date to pay attention to is Oct. 28th...

Interesting.
Looks like the value of nickel may go up... probably in proportion to the amount that copper goes down.
:)

Fascinating stuff.
Not holding out too much hope for it (sounds a bit like Steron's Orbo hoopla of a few years ago).
Though i will admit, this sounds quite a bit more feasible than that.

I would give my left arm if this delivered the promise. Meaning - I hope it does.

logic would dictate the device does not work. because if it did, this man would have already been killed and his product destroyed.

Sounds very interesting and I'm looking forward to hearing the results.

But I too wonder about the prices of nickel and copper if we all require those items for our energy ($100/ounce for copper?). Tell you what, if the tests are successful I'll be hording as many pennies and nickels as possible.

* Interesting fact. It costs the US Mint 1.79 cents to make one penny. So it costs almost twice as much to make a penny as it is worth. That says a lot. lol

I've been following this for a long time. There are a couple of red flags, namely the chief inventor's checkered past, business contracts that have recently gone up in smoke, and a 'black box' at the center of the device, black box meaning a secret aspect the inventor won't disclose or allow ANYONE to look at (he claims for patent reasons). However, there have been several public tests which have independently confirmed that the machine works, it doesn't break any laws of physics (if it works as claimed), and Rossi hasn't taken any public money...yet. He supposedly mortgaged his own house to fund the current experiments. I'm excited, but cautious, and I live in city built around oil extraction and export, so if this does change the world, my local economy is going to go south real fast. At least I'll be able to buy some cheap real estate.

I've been talking to some engineering friends of mine who are much smarter than me and they say there is no way it can work.

Hey, we all know it can't possibly work... There's that whole "too good to be true" thing. But I'm still gonna be watching how it turns out. Every once in a while someone invents something that can't possibly work, like: the battery. The battery is one of the most commonplace, ubiquitous, and essential marvels of modern life. But it really is a miracle if you think about it from the perspective of a world that had never seen such a thing. So: applause to inventors everywhere. But I'm not planning on unplugging my house from the grid any time soon.

This.

Trying to pull the rug out from under a trillion+ dollar industry is a death wish.

Hmmm let's see...

And please observe the rules...do not turn this thread into something political

According to this site:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-...-refined-nickel-producers-in-2010-table-.html

the following are the top 3 nickel producers:

1. OAO GMK Norilsk Nickel (Russia)
2. Vale SA (Brazil)
3. Jinchuan Group Ltd. (China)

And according to this site:
http://www.mapsofworld.com/minerals/world-nickel-producers.html

Australia, Cuba and Canada hold the top 3 nickel reserves.

If the technology works as advertised, the "energy landscape" would change dramatically.

Maybe we will get one of these in three years after all--

LMAO!

Even if true, the naïveté to believe the establishment powermongers will sit idly by and allow free energy to proliferate is astonishing to put it mildly.
This guy and his invention will be dead by end of month.

Yes just like all those dead electric car engineers and solar/wind farm owners... oh wait, those power mongers just went ahead and bought into that stuff as well realizing there is money selling
to hippies.

But anyways, this invention is a fake, probably just has some lithium cells in his closed black box that no one is allowed to look at, which just so happens to the be the key part in his project.

This theory has been shot down. The 'black box' isn't big enough to output the energy he's shown coming out, for the length of time he's demoed it, using just lithium batteries.

Well I don't know.

Thinks Fe, Co, Ni, Cu all at or near the "Iron Plateaux" where fusion runs out of binding energy advantage and fission isn't giving much energy at all. In fact, going from Nickel to Copper isn't either really, is it? This is why big old stars go supernova, they run out of elements to fuse.

To be sure I haven't done the math, but I would be very surprised if there was anything at all in the way of energy release, and anyway cold fusion's been done to death already.
