Not Rendering...help!

Hey, This is Tommie Green. I'm currently having a problem with Adobe Premiere Pro.

I'm working on my first music video. It's coming out GREAT & Everything's running smooth. Only thing is, there are some shots that require me to crop, because as you know, with the DVX, it doesn't shoot in real letterbox, it just puts those black bars into your footage. I shot SOME stuff with the letterboxes on, thinking it wouldn't matter, but I changed my mind and decided I didn't want it. I totally fixed it though by removing the tops and bottoms by 12.5% with the Crop effect. Thing is:

PREMIERE WON'T RENDER MY CROPPED FOOTAGE!

I mean, it'll render everything else. But when it gets to the cropped footage, it just freezes. And I have to Ctl+alt+dlte Premiere away and reopen it. And it's not a matter of HOW MUCH I crop by, all I have to do is add the effect to the footage, not even crop anything, and it crashes. I don't know what it is, because I once did a film before where I fought myself (Don't Ask), and cropped down the middle and it rendered perfectly. Any suggestions as to why it's not working now? (Please ASAP, Cause I told this guy I'd have his video done by Sunday...lol)

You might try this:

Instead of cropping place your 4:3 footage into a NTSC 16:9 timeline. Then increase the size by 133.33% (i think it was). You should get the same result, but just through a different avenue.

When I think I can get a video done in one week i say 6 weeks. That way when I get it done in 3 weeks it is still way early

See, what I'm trying to do is this (Mass confusion ahead):

I wanted the video in letterbox. So I shot with the letterbox on. But when I started editing, I wanted VIDEO as the letterbox. (Like a Hype Williams-esque thing going on). In order to achieve that effect, I lowered the hieght of ALL the REGULAR footage to 75% so that the footage in the background would play as a letterbox.
BUT, if I lower the letterboxed footage, it'll still be that black letterbox line in there on the top and bottom. Only solution, crop it out by 12.5% on the top and bottom, and that way, the video letterbox still plays in the background. so the answer to my prob would be how to remove the letterbox...which is permenantly party of the footage... :undecided

you dont have to change the hieght of the footage at all or do any cropping, just use 2 generic masks to mask out the black letterbox areas that you would like to make transparent on the main video track in order to let the underlying video track show up as the letterbox. then export as normal.
