Not properly showing hard-drive

I don't know if this is the best place to post this.

I just got a harddrive back from technicolor (which they formatted), with my digitized film now in a nice little file on it.

But it won't display properly when its hooked to my PC, (Windows 7). It now only shows up in the devices folder, grouped with the printers i have installed on my computer.. The harddrive worked earlier so I know its got to be the formatting they've done... any hope in getting to my file using my PC?

Maybe you should speak to someone at Technicolor and find out how they formatted the drive.

Appropriately obvious answer, but they arn't tech support for this type of problem. I'm interested in people's use of Mac formatting vs PC formatting, and if PC people have found any good ways to use the Mac file formatting,

I didn't think there was a difference between the two to be honest, I thought it all worked NTFS... boom.. though mac may use Fat32 it should all work together, no?

This isn't tech support. It's client support. Technicolor is very good at that. Just call your contact up and tell them you can't read the drive, then ask how it's formatted.

If they gave you a Mac formatted drive, they can tell you that. There's software available to read Mac formatted drives on Windows.

There definitely is a difference, BTW. Mac, Linux & Unix formats can store files that are much larger than what FAT32 or NTFS can store. Files that are hundreds of gigabytes.
