Not having to move all the clips when you edit out something

Im sure this is a silly question, but when you have tons of clips and you cut one out of the middle of the timeline is there a way to get all the clips to automatically move over so you don't have to drag each clip over?

Ripple edit. It's a button option at the top of the screen. Leave it off normally (at least I do), but when you need it for something specific like this, turn it on, make the cut, and turn it back off.

It also works nicely if you want to insert something into your movie and you want everything to shift around it.

Or <CTRL><SHIFT>F to ripple everything on all tracks, while keeping ripple-edit off.
