NOT FCP - MAC OS Server Question

Sorry for posting this unrelated question.

Ok so now running a new mac pro. Off to the side here is a macbook pro, and in addition I will also add another mac in about 6 months.

So if I were to run mac os server on the mac pro I can utilise the resources on the other machines using Xgrid.

My question is this - am I really going to see a performance boost in FCS if I do this? I just figure for $500, if I can see a worthy increase, its worth doing.

No bites on this first time around, wanted to bump to give it another run. Cheers if you can respond.

Render times. Or more specifically offloading the render task to another machine so I can continue working.

Well again it depends on your workflow. Compressor can use multiple machines for rendering but within FCP itself rendering is a single machine task. A server is more useful for centralizing media so that multiple users can access it. If it's just one user, the money is better spent on more RAM, faster video card, etc.
