Nostaglia...

I'm doing something fun on my show tonight:

"Let’s be nostalgic tonight: If you could bring something back for Christmas, what would it be? Eight track tapes? Quiet Roads? Christmas when it used to start in December instead of September?"

What would you 'bring back' if you could? ;)

Re: Nostaglia...

Six Million Dollar Man action fiqure. He had a radio backpack that really worked (sometimes). And you could look through one of his eyes and everything was magnified.

I would also bring back lawn darts. Remember those? They were huge, dangerous, darts that you would throw into the air and try to land them into hoops. Unfortunately, some people got hurt and they pulled them form the shelves. Ohhh I can go buy an Ak-47 with no problem, but Lawn Darts, they might be too dangerous for me.

Re: Nostaglia...

Cool thanks for these so far- everyone who posts in the next two hours will get a mention on the show!! ;)

Re: Nostaglia...

Bring back NOT having to lock your doors every night, full service at gas stations, and good customer service.

Re: Nostaglia...

The cool, dim, 1890s-looking Wendy's restaurants with the old-style news advertisement tables.

But that probably won't mean much to a British audience, so I'd say an end to hostility toward the religious significance of Christmas.

Re: Nostaglia...

Free time. People reading in the evenings instead of watching mediocre crap on the tube.

Of course most of what we get nostalgic about never really was how we remember it. But that's just me pissing in the porridge.

Re: Nostaglia...

no matter, i mean ..who eats porridge?!

you need to step up to quaker oats.. a real mans meal. 5 delicious flavors to make your mouth water. oooohhhhh yeaaaaah    QUAKER!

...and i would bring back my grandparents.

Re: Nostaglia...

Yea, my gramma was pretty cool. I have a ton of questions I'd ask her now that I'm older

Re: Nostaglia...

This is actually my first Christmas without my grandmother. :'(

A point driven home last night when I wanted to get a cookie recipe from her.

Re: Nostaglia...

Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that too - I thought I'd leave that one out out of respect for your grandma (don't think it would be appropriate for a cocky light-hearted radio show!)

Thanks so much for your responses - the feature went very well, and you guys really helped get the ball rolling! Hey - You're now all famous!! ;D

Re: Nostaglia...

I'll speak to a few people, see what they can do... that one got a few laughs here in the studio!!! ;)
