Well, my Norms C-stands arrived a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to everyone for the help in selecting them.
Non-spring loaded with detachable (turtle-base) legs (see here). My initial reaction is that they are quite solid. Nice fat knobs for easy grip for tightening and loosening.
The non-spring loaded legs are quick to get into position. I think there are advantages and disadvantages to either type, but my personal preference is the non-spring.
Since my transport is small, I had to get the turtle-base "break down" legs. But I don't know why you would go with fixed legs if you could afford otherwise. I see no advantage in them and think the turtle-base is more than worth the extra money, unless you have a 1 ton or more and space isn't an issue.
I'm very pleased with my Norms, and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone else!
