normalize question 2

Hi,
i use a rode lavalier in a pcm-m10. I try to fix the sound of my voice to reach -12 db. (i read somewhere that people suggest to not exceed -12)
But in fact, in adobe premiere, to have a normalize sound, i need to add a couple of decibel to reach -4db.
DO you think i should record louder than -12db
OR
should i record at -12db and increase the volume afterwards ?
Thank you very much
have a good day !
Julien

Record at -12 so you have plenty of headroom on location but then do your final mix to around the -4 mark, adding compression will also help punch the audio thru for web based you tube clips.

Note that the final levels quoted are for web only and broadcast should be kept to the delivery limits as specified by the broadcaster.
