normal or "master" tapes?

Just got my DVX last week and I´m really happy with it.
Does anybody know if there is a big diference between using normal miniDV tapes and the Panasonic "Master" series ones that they recomend in the manual?

By the way, thanx for the postboard guys!! It´s great the amount of info and help that people are giving out here...

I think the only difference is the lubricant on the master which is not oil based so there is no tape drop out, but quality wise, the tapes are the same. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Go with MQ tapes. I've had drop outs on the normal tapes during the last 5 minutes of the tapes... but on the MQ tapes I have had no drop outs and have reused them 5 times or more.

Only if $$$ is a concern. Our local Panasonic service center just told me that they use and recommend PA-AYDVM60EJ tapes which is the tape we use. We archive projects to the MQ tapes simply because they are supposed to have a longer shelf life. The service rep said that tape drop-out is most commonly caused by re-using tape. Since we can purchase the PA-AYDVM60EJ tape stock at $2.45 per, there really isn't a need to re-use.
