Noobie 35mm lens questions

Hey everyone! So after many weeks of debating my upcoming purchase, I'm finally gonna take the plunge and buy myself a nice 35 mm adapter setup from redrock! I'll be making the purchase tomorrow, but I had realized that I didn't know what lenses I'd be using... so I started calling older relatives. Turns out, at least 3 of my relatives own old minolta's with some lenses. . In fact, in my own garage, I found an old minolta rokkor 45mm lens that I plan on using with my M2. Now the real question here (the really noobie one) is.... when these lenses are still mounted to the body, how do I get them off? I've never been into still photography much, so I've never worked with such cameras especially such old models! So, many of these old lenses are on old cameras and need to be detached... how do I go about doing this? And if anyone has any comments or suggestions about Minolta lenses, feel free to add that as well! Thanks!

There's a button usually near the bottom of the lens mount ont he camera that's a relase. You push that and turn the lens counter clockwise.

Older minolta lenses can be great, when minolta movedd into auto focus, they changed the mount, so there's a lot of older manual focus lenses out there that people don't value. I built my lens adapter with a minolta mount to take advantage of the cheap but good lenses out there.

BTW, can you use minollta md/MC mount lenses on the redrock? I'm not sure you can get an adapter for that...

Well, I hope so because under the list of mounts you can get with your purchase... minolta is listed. Though, it seems that it must be a new mount or something because everyone on their forum seems to have been asking for it for a while.

They do indeed...

Just make sure that the lens you have is an older MC or MD mount, not the newer Maxxum autofocus mount.

I have a bunch of Minolta MD glass I inherited. Good find! I think you will really enjoy the results the Minolta lenses give you. If you don't, let me know because I wouldn't mind getting some more. ;) Good luck in your 35mm adventures!
