Noob question :[

As you will probably be able to tell from the following question, I'm new here. So here goes nothing.

Where would I be able to buy a 35mm lens?
I've seen people building them and whatnot, but I have absolutely no idea how to do that. If I'd need a specific one for my camera, I have a fairly miniature Sony Handycam camcorder (DCR-HC40)

You can buy lenses at camera shops, ebay, keh.com
I'd say all of the bigger name adapters will work with your camera with the appropriate step up rings. One problem with using smaller cameras is the increase of vignetting. You may need an additional spacer tube to help with that.
