Noob question

I have a consumer camcorder JVC GZ-Hm200. It shoots in 1920x1080 AVCHD. Two questions:

1: Do I need to do pulldown removal for this footage? Nothing in the manual says its shooting 24p or anything like that.

2: How can I convert AVCHD to something I can edit with? My computer is too slow to even playback the AVCHD files to begin with

1. No, I'm sure they'd say if it weren't 29.97.

There are free solutions and there is software like Neo Scene and VoltaicHD and others. A quick search here will bring up the threads.
