Noob question - Hard case for DVX

Hi everyone. I just bought my DVX100ap 2 days ago. Yes, i'm a little late to the game, but I've always loved this camera and wanted one. Due to it's price used, I could finally afford it, so I jumped.

Now, I'm looking to house it as the guy who sold it to me did not offer a case with it, and obviously I want to protect it.

I was looking at Pelican, as well as this one from Panasonic. I was wondering if there's one out there that is sort of the "go to" case for the 100a. I used to own a Pelican and liked it. Is there one that is suggested? Or perhaps that Panasonic or another I'm unaware of? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Very happy with my purchase. Can't wait to start using it. And glad I found this forum. What a great resource.

Pelicans are great. I use them for all my equipment. Really just depends on how much stuff you want to carry with it and whether or not you want to be able to take in on a plane. I have a 1520 which is fairly compact but i think you have to go one size lower to be "carry-on" worthy. What are your parameters?

Thanks for the reply, and good questions.

I guess I didn't think about the flying thing much, but that's a good point. I'd love to be able to take it with me. I won't have too much to carry with it. I have two longer life batteries (in addition to the stock battery that came with the camera) as well as a mic and cable. I'm thinking not too much beyond that, so not a lot. Anything beyond that (say a tripod, etc) I think would be checked.

So yeah, something larger enough the camera and minimal accessories. Thanks.

this will hold your DVX, batts, and mic as long as you plan out where everything will go before you start plucking foam. (I would suggest the foam vs. the dividers for your case as well.) If traveling isn't a priority then I would go with a large case such as the 1550 or 1600

pelican 1510 is for onboard. remember that pelicans weigh a LOT ! I have a 1560.
See if you can find RIMOVA cases. Aluminum and super leightweight!!!

both are fine I just like the foam because you can custom form them to fit your components exactly. Plus I would wager that the foam may be more protective because your items wont move around at all. With a padded divider set you will have very few things that form-fit and stay perfectly.
