Noisy Lacie

I have this Lacie:

It's a 1.5 TB.

I have kept it on it's side since I got it, and that was around 2 months ago and have used it quite a bit to date.

Tonight, it started making a vibrating/humming sound. If I put weight on it, (either my finger pushing down, or even a cup) the noise stops.

If I pick it up and place it back down, the noise stops and then starts up again later on.

Is it ok on it's side, or should I grab the stand and put it upright vertically?

Everything else seems to be fine.

I edit a show with it and use a lot of render time in AE and FCP.

Any help would be great. I'm editing on an iMac in case you need to know.

Some of the plastic is probably a tad loose from the spinning disk. If putting weight on it helps, why not just leave something sitting on top of it? I have a small alarm clock sitting on mine.
