Noise when shooting snow

I shot my first footage today with my new DVX100ap. Shot some giant slalom racing, both in 24pn and 60i (for slow mo). All seemed fine but when I got home and viewed the footage on my TV (via S video cable), I could see what I can only describe as noise in any of the white snow areas. The noise actually looks like tape passing over the heads. Does that make any sense. I can't see it when I'm editing and haven't output to DVD yet but was wondering if anyone else has come across this. It's very apparent when viewing the footage straight out of the camera. Tried diff. cables and it's still there.

Thanks.

Apparently whatever the noise is I'm seeing is only seen on playback, directly from the dvx100 to a TV monitor via S video or RCA. I just captured all the footage into a 30i timeline and output to DVD and it looks fine. As I noted, what I was seeing on the TV actually looked like tape passing over the heads in the camera...perhaps that is the case and can only be seen on a primarily white image? very strange but I'm just glad it didn't transfer during capture.

You might have been seeing areas that are outside the safe signal range. Probably the blown out whites. That might have caused your teevee to display the garbage.

It's tricky shooting in snow but it can be done with the dvx. Just use your zebra indicators and watch for blow outs.

You can see a short clip and some grabs from some snowboarding footage I did recently over in the clip/grabs section of the forum:
