Noise on my FP 33

I recently picked up a used FP 33 and I was testing it with different mikes (816t, 416t and a CS1) and I noticed it seemed noisy on gain. Of course I was in the monitor jacks with my headphones. I tried both jacks, played with the levels and it was still noisy. So I'm thinking ok off to Shure for repair then I decided to try the tape out jack. It was quiet as a grave. My question is, why are the monitor jacks so noisy? Is this normal or do I still need to ship it out to Shure? Thanks for your imput.:thumbsup:

An FP33 noisy? Why I've never heard of such a thing....

Take the main left and right outputs into something, and see what it sounds like then. FP33's are notoriously noisy.
