Noahs DVD question

I was just finishing up watching Noah's dvx and FCP dvd. and he has a section on the dvd about checking between 24pa vs 24p vs 60i, and how to tell the difference. And how after you download your footage if you key every 5 frames for 24pa u see the vibrating movement and 24 p u see it every 2 or 3 and 60i is every frame.

But when i have my captured footage and I play it in my canvas and i right arrow through it, I don't see anything... just goes frame by frame...I'm really new to this so the answer could be simple ...any suggestions ? Also he's using a tube television monitor, would I only be able to see it on a monitor like that ?

thanks for any help.

Try Setting under the Sequence tab, if under field priority none is selected then every frame is progressive, no?

Exactly- much easier to see on a standard TV or monitor via Firewire out. You can also see it by opening the file in the QuickTime player. You just need to enable high quality in the visual settings. Otherwise you only get to see a single field anyway. This is what an interlaced frame looks like:
