No Video output

I can't get a video output via firewire to my dv player to output to my monitor. Am I missing somethig ?

Is there some menu option in the dv player, that you check if the IEEE-1394 Firewire input mode is on? There usually is a possibility to select either Firewire, or analog signals to go thru the player.
Check that the dv player has the right switch selected for Firewire input, and the right signal is getting out for the monitor.

I'm not sure if FCP has some menu setting adjusments for Firewire signals, most likely there are. Check those.

Under "view" there are some options.... I'm not on my mac and don't remember exactly. One you should try is something like "refresh A/V devices" (under view menu). Another is there also in the same area where you need to select "all frames" to output all frames via firewire. That's all I can think of without being at my mac.

Hi, had the same problem a few weeks ago and I got the following answer that solved it: press command + F12 to get it to your monitor. Press again to view on your computer screen again. Good luck!

Amazing! Certainly sounds easy compared to any PC & Avid set-up. Tomorrow we'll be picking up our new Mac, I'm so waiting to get to work with FCP :)
